Die erste Generation des Citroën C5 kam 2001 auf den Markt. Den Citroën C5 gab es als fünftürige Schrägheck-Limousine und als Kombi (C5 Break). Der C5 wurde mit folgenden Motoren angeboten: 1,8- bis 3,0-Liter-Benziner (116-207 PS) und 1,6- bis 2,2-Liter-Diesel (90-170 PS). Der letzte Citroën C5 der ersten Generation lief 2008 vom Band.
