Mit dem C30 stellte Volvo ab 2006 einen stylischen Konkurrenten für Audi A3 und BMW 1er auf die Räder. Der kompakte Schwede teilt sich eine Plattform mit den Konzernbrüdern S40 und V50, das Design ist eine Hommage an den legendären „Schneewittchensarg“ (Volvo P1800 ES) aus den 1970er Jahren. Die Motorenpalette umfasste bei den Benzinern ein Leistungsspektrum von 100 bis zu satten 230 PS, bei den Dieseln von 109 bis 180 PS.
